Manchester at Christmas: Places You Must See - Blogmas Day 3

Monday, December 03, 2018

What started out as a spontaneous trip into the centre with Aiden to get out of the library ended in a really enjoyable evening seeing all of the festive sights of Manchester, since everywhere is now in full-on festive spirit. Sometimes it's nice to take a step back and just take in the sights, and even though I live in Manchester there are so many places that I haven't seen. I really wanted to share these gorgeous sights with you guys, so I thought that I'd spend Blogmas day 3 talking about some of the must-see places in Manchester this Christmas.

Manchester Central Library and St Peter's Square

Central Library in Manchester is such a gorgeous and elegant looking place, as well as the perfect study spot if you're in the centre. It looks grand all year round, but there's something about the way it's lit up on a cold, festive evening that really is pretty. The entirety of St Peter's Square, in fact, is gorgeous, and just around the corner from the Manchester Christmas Markets (which aren't featured in this post, since they'll have a post of their own later on in the month)

Manchester Central Station

I didn't actually know that this station existed until I walked by it since it's conveniently tucked away. However, this is a very cute location at Christmas, with all the trees being lit up adding a festive and cosy feel. It was bizarrely empty here, but it'd make a great photo location for the festive period!

Great Northern Warehouse

If you're a fan of Christmas then you definitely need to check out this location, as it's gorgeously decked out for the festive season. The retro multi-coloured lights give an almost old-fashioned but still adorable feel to the location. Plus there are endless bars, restaurants (all adorned in festive fairy lights) and even little tipis as part of the 'Alpine Village'. It's such a gorgeous location that the camera really didn't do justice, and if you're looking for a festive place to eat or have a drink then this is definitely a contender, being only a short walk from the centre.

Deansgate

Aiden and I proceeded to walk through Deansgate, and may I just say, it's Christmas galore here! Not only did we stumble upon one of the most gorgeous trees I've ever seen, but there was also lots of decorations adorning the streets. There were even some little huts set up as karaoke bars and festive hangouts that was a lovely touch. Aside from the main lights in St Albert's Square, this place is definitely my favourite for Christmas spirit, and it honestly just blew me out of the water.

Market Stalls in the City

One thing that I love about Manchester is that the Christmas markets aren't just in one location, there are actually quite a few spread out across the city. If you're walking in the centre, you're bound to stumble upon the variety of food and gift stalls that there are, adding a festive touch to wherever you go. Once it's nighttime and all lit up, this really becomes a magical place and a must-see for everyone in Manchester, as well as being perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat.

Piccadilly Gardens

The fountains in Piccadilly Gardens are always a huge attraction, but of a night once they're lit up, it really is a completely different place. Surrounded by the onlooking restaurants, and trees wrapped in fairy lights, it really is a magical location. I often head here to catch my bus home from work, but it's nice to take a step back every once in a while to take it all in and enjoy the festive sights.

I hope you liked this insight into all of the festive locations in central Manchester, and I still find it hard to believe that this is my city! Obviously the major one missing from this post is the Christmas markets, but don't worry as a post all about that will be on its way later in Blogmas! Thank you very much for reading this post and I'll see you tomorrow with another one!

Love from Daisy x
