August Favourites 2014

Tuesday, September 02, 2014

It feels like forever since I've done a monthly favourites, probably because it has been. Since I know that these are one of my most popular posts, I couldn't leave you without one for August, so here it goes. Most of these are makeup favourites, but there is a random favourites at the end of the post as well. I hope you enjoy it!

The first thing I've been loving this month is a particular eyeshadow from a particular Primark palette. Neither the palette nor the shadow have a name, so hopefully my photos and descriptive skills will explain everything. The one I've been loving is the champagne coloured shadow, which is in the top left. Personally, I think it looks better in real life than on the photo. I used to love this about a year ago but I stopped wearing eyeshadow on a regular basis for a long time. All of a sudden, I'm back into wearing eyeshadow and this one has regained the position of favourite. Despite being in a palette that only cost £2.50, it's such an amazing shadow. The pigmentation is great and it lasts a long time on my lids. It's really versatile and can be worn on its own for a girly, natural look, or used as part of a smoky eye. Whether you'd love a new eyeshadow or are just looking for a bargain, please pick up this palette!

This month I've returned to an old friend in terms of lipbalms. Back in October, I went to Florida on holiday and picked up one of the legendary eos lipbalms that were the current hype. Everyone had mixed opinions on them and I stopped using mine when the next thing came in. However, I saw it sitting in my drawer the other day and I remembered how much I used to love it. The summer fruits scent, which is the one I bought, smells absolutely delicious and the lipbalm feels lovely and silky against my lips, despite some people saying it doesn't. This lipbalm is definitely one of my favourites and probably going back into my makeup bag.

Brown mascara has been one of my friends this month, particularly my MUA one. I used this a lot back in September for school, as it looks natural and lengthens your lashes without looking like you're caked in makeup. I stopped using this for a long time but after sorting through my makeup collection and finding it, I started using it again. I've been wearing it for things such as nipping to the shop or walking my dog, when I don't need a lot of makeup but I want to make a bit of an effort. If you don't think you can get away with black mascara or would just like your eyes to be a bit more natural, I think this product would be for you.

My last makeup favourite is Collection's cover up stick, which I bought a while back in the lightest shade. Back then, it was a perfect match for me, but after just being on holiday and tanning loads, it doesn't even come close. However, I realised that it would be a really nice minimalistic eye base to wear with just a bit of matte brown contour. It takes away the redness and imperfections in my eyelids, which gives a really nice effect. I'm really glad I have this product as it's got multiple purposes and I'll always find a use for it.

I thought I'd give you a music favourite at the end, just to mix it up a bit. A singer that I've been loving throughout August is Zara Larsson. I've been listening to a number of her songs recently, my favourite being She Is Not Me, and I have to say that she has a fabulous voice. Zara is a 17 year old singer from Sweden who gained fame after winning a Swedish talent show. If there's one thing you do after reading this post, it should be to go and check her out. The video below is She Is Not Me (part 1 and 2) so please have a listen!

So they are my monthly favourites! I feel like this month has been about a lot of previous products that I've enjoyed but forgotten about. Most of these you probably didn't know about as I liked them well before I started blogging, but I guess every time I blog you learn a little more about me. Thanks for reading, there will be more posts coming up soon!

Love from Daisy x
