Ask Daisy #5 - Favourite Posts and Beauty Routines

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

I haven't uploaded one of these posts in what seems like quite a while, so I thought it was time to bring you another Ask Daisy! I really enjoy writing these and I've discovered that my readers like them, so I knew I had to continue with the series. Today, I will be answering some more questions that were either sent in or that I've been asked a lot, so I hope you like this post!

How do you get people to read and follow your blog?
This certainly isn't an overnight process and it takes a while to build a following for your blog, even if it's only a small one of around 200 people like mine. One of the best ways to put your content out there and be recognised by a lot of people is by commenting on other blogs. I don't mean commenting your blog link but adding personal messages that are relevant to the post, as this is lovely to see and makes people more likely to visit your blog. I'd also recommend using social media to your advantage, as it is extremely handy for sharing your content and connecting with new people.

What do you do when you aren't writing blog posts?
Most of my time is spent either in school or doing homework, with blogging being a hobby that I do in my free time. I also like to do dance, drama and singing, which I have mentioned a few times on my blog, and I'm an avid reader, so I'll often curl up in bed with a good book. Aside from these, I have a huge addiction to social media and spend way too much of my free time on my laptop or phone.

What beauty routine to do never or rarely do?
I'll be honest, a beauty routine that I always forget to do is exfoliate my face. I don't know why, since I love how my skin feels afterwards and I know how good it is to remove all the dead skin cells, but I constantly forget to do this and definitely don't exfoliate as often as I should. I also don't wear eyeliner that often, as I'm not the best at applying it.

What are some things that you'd love to be able to do?
I'd love to be fluent in another language. I learn French in school and, although I do understand it, I'm far away from being able to confidently and fluently speak it. I'd also love to be able to play the piano properly. I took keyboard lessons for four years when I was younger, so I do have knowledge about it and I'm quite good at playing, but I could definitely improve a lot with some practice.

I'm thinking of starting a blog, any tips and advice?
My biggest tip is to not think you can instantly have amazing photos, outstanding content and a huge following. Every blogger starts off not very good and improves within time, so don't get upset if your blog isn't as big as others when you first start out. My second tip is to write as often as you can and get a lot of practise, as this will help you improve. Whether those posts are uploaded or not, it's still good to gain confidence with writing and the style of blogging when you start out.

Which posts do you enjoy writing the most?
If you asked me this about 6 months ago, I'd probably reply with posts similar to this, as they are easy to write, interactive with my audience and are more personal than my other posts. Don't get me wrong, I do still like these type of posts, but I have two new favourite posts to write: book reviews and product reviews. I love sharing book recommendations on my blog, as reading is a huge hobby of mine, and I've gained a lot more knowledge about makeup to provide accurate and detailed reviews.

I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you to everyone who submitted questions for me. I'd love to know your answers to some of the questions, so make sure you leave them in the comments down below. There will definitely be more of these posts in the future, so I'd also love to hear any questions that you'd like me to answer. Thanks for reading and I'll be back on Sunday with a new post. See you then!

Love from Daisy x
