February Favourites 2015

Sunday, March 01, 2015

It's time for another monthly favourites post! February went incredibly fast and I found myself wondering where it had went, but I still had enough time to try out some new items and rediscover a few old favourites. Today, I thought I'd share these with you, as you seem to really enjoy seeing what I've been loving. I also thrown in a book favourite, which I hope you like!

I have always been a fan of using powder to set my makeup into place for the day, especially if I'm doing sport or dance, as I feel like it really makes a difference. I usually opt for a pressed powder, but recently I've been using a loose powder, specifically the Mineral Veil from Bare Minerals. There has been a huge amount of hype surrounding this and, after trying it, I understand why. It is transparent and blends really well into the skin, absorbing unnecessary oils and ensuring my makeup stays in place all day. I've really enjoyed using this and you'll definitely see a lot more of it in the future.

I've been wearing matte blusher a lot recently, so I've been adding shimmer back into my cheeks in the form of a highlighter. There are two that have been particularly good this month, those being Benefit's Watts Up cream to powder highlighter and Sleek's powder highlighter, which is in their contour kit. The Watts Up highlighter is a warm toned champagne, which I feel looks quite bold yet still really pretty, adding a flawless shimmer to my cheekbones. Sleek's highlighter, however, is more of a neutral beige that gives a subtle shine to the high points of my face.

I go through phases of wearing no eyeshadow and a lot of it and this month has definitely been one of the latter. One of the items that I've been using frequently is MUA's Heaven and Earth palette, which I actually reviewed here. I feel like this product can create a variety of gorgeous looks that are suitable for any makeup look and occasion. One eyeshadow that I've been particularly loving is 'catacomb', which is a gorgeous champagne that looks stunning both in the pan and when applied.

My lips have been incredibly dry throughout February and I found myself in desperate need of a lip balm. I decided to resort back to my Eos spherical lip balm that I bought in America a while back. I was obsessed with this for quite some time and found that it really helped my lips. Yet again, I was amazed by how good this product is and my lips have definitely felt a lot smoother since using it.

On my lips, I've been wearing Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in the shade Bashful. This is a gorgeous pinky nude that looks really natural on the lips yet you can still tell that you're wearing something. The formulation is creamy and this product applies really well, starting out sheer but intensifying as you apply more layers. I've really been in love with this lip crayon and I think it is one that I'll continue to wear in Spring.

This month, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading The Glam Guide: beauty blogger Fleur de Force's debut book. A wide range of topics are discussed in the book, such as makeup, hairstyles, fashion, health and travel, all of which are incredibly engrossing and fun to read. Each page is set out like a mini blog post, sharing lots of advice and helpful tips that have been really helpful. This book has definitely been one that I've loved reading and feel that I'll always find it useful.

These are all of my monthly favourites, which I hope you enjoyed! Thank you for reading and I'll be back on Wednesday with a book review, so stay tuned!

Love from Daisy x
